Post 7: Curb Appeal
The outside of this house needs a lot of love, and I am running out of summer in which to do most of the work. But in additional to painting the trim, removing the big tree, and replacing the gutters, which have already been done and shared, there were two quick hits: adding a bit of landscaping and painting the front door.
The front door is old, but I'm not sure it was original. It was also in HORRIBLE shape. So leaving it natural wood wasn't an option. It really should be replaced, but to save money, I opted to patch and paint it. It isn't so far gone that it's a security risk of any kind.
So I used some wood putty and then painted a beautiful mushroom color. Here are some photos:
Wood putty feels like air, but it dries quickly, can be sanded, and does the trick. Then, onto painting. Here's are a few post-painting photos, but I didn't get one yet with the paint scraped off the glass:
The porch floor is grey, and it can't stay that way, but I'm still not sure what material I want to replace it with. I don't want to repaint what's there - it's in too bad of shape. And replacing it with modern decking isn't an option.
And here are just a few simple photos of some plants I added:
